Jasper was born in Tallinn, Estonia in 1985. He received his BSc and MSci degrees from the University of Cambridge, UK, where he undertook a final year project with Prof. David Spring to study fluoride free cross-coupling reactions. He then continued with a DPhil at the University of Oxford, working with Prof. Andrew Goodwin to study crystallographic properties of layered materials. Graduating in 2015, Jasper subsequently undertook a research fellowship at the National Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics in Estonia and has since then started his own research focusing on aromatic and flexible macrocycles and their molecular recognition properties. Jasper was appointed to a senior research fellowship in 2018.
